What items will junk removal companies not take?

We haul a whole lot—old couches, mattresses, appliances, yard debris, mystery garage piles, and that treadmill that became an expensive clothes rack.

But some items need specialized handling for safety, environmental, or legal reasons. In other words: we talk trash, but we do not mess around with hazardous trash.

Items we typically can’t take

• Paints, stains, solvents, and paint thinners

• Gasoline, diesel, propane tanks, motor oil, and other fuels

• Chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, pool chemicals, and cleaning acids

• Hazardous or unknown liquids

• Explosives, ammunition, firearms, or fireworks

• Medical waste, needles, or prescription medications

• Asbestos-containing materials

• Large quantities of batteries, especially damaged or swollen lithium batteries

• Radioactive materials

• Biohazards or anything that could put our crew—or your neighbors—at risk

A quick note on “tricky” items

Some items may be accepted with advance notice, an added disposal fee, or special arrangements. That can include TVs and electronics, refrigerators and air conditioners, tires, mattresses, large appliances, and certain construction debris.

Send us a photo or tell us what you have before your appointment. We’ll let you know what we can haul, what needs special handling, and where to take anything we cannot accept.
